  34. I feel sorry for you , I genuinely do. I am the person you choose to call
  35. an unstable would-be terrorist , and I want you to know that nothing disgusts
  36. me more than people who take out their frustration on someone else. Maybe
  37. my post was too short to clarify this , but I never intended my post as a 
  38. threat to NewTek or anyone else ; I was merely stating my frustration and
  39. anger towards what seemed like a blow to the entire community of Amiga 
  40. and LightWave owners. When I learned that the original post was patently
  41. false , my first reaction was to apologize on the mailing list , and my 
  42. second reaction was to thank NewTek for continuing their support.

  44. Now , I may have reacted prematurely , but so have YOU , Dave. You don't 
  45. know me. You probably never will . Maybe you are incapable of knowing me; 
  46. I don't know . I don't know you either. All I know is that , on a basis
  47. of a five-line posting to a mailing list , you immediately concluded that I
  48. was a dangerous individual . This makes me both sad and mirthful , I know 
  49. myself fairly well , and to think that I could ever blow up a building
  50. or plant a container of nerve gas in a metro station is ridiculous to
  51. the extreme . Such acts are stupid and accomplish nothing , except the death
  52. of innocents . I am no idealist . I am no politician. I believe in practical
  53. solutions to real problems , not symbolic acts of blind violence towards 
  54. an unknown `they' to whom all problems are credited.

  56. You mentioned federal law. If this means that you're in favour of the
  57. Communications Decency Act , then I guess your reaction makes sense. 
  58. But how anyone can fit the first amendment to the US constitution into
  59. it is beond me. I think Abe Lincoln once said that if and when the people
  60. gets a government that's unsuited to its power, the people has 
  61. both a right and a duty to revolt. Rather amusing , don't you think ? 
  62. I've also noticed that while the word `fuck' is actually most commonly used
  63. by americans , it usually takes a european to spell it out in full (ie , 
  64. not f*ck or f**k) . This habit would probably come in handy if the CDA
  65. passes - this letter , for example , would be illegal as I used the f-word.

  67. The commercialization of usenet has had many consequences for it native
  68. population . On one hand , a lot of interesting people have gained access
  69. to the medium in later years , and that's a boon. On the other hand, the same
  70. increase in `population' has brought a lot of unsuited people. The spoken 
  71. word still holds a lot of power , and usenet as a medium conveys it in its
  72. most concentrated form. You'd think that this would further people's 
  73. understanding of each other , but the fact is that deliberate or accidental
  74. misunderstandings are much more common. The size of usenet has also brought
  75. a lot of unwanted attention from other media and government officials.
  76. The original teeming anarchy may well be replaced with a regulated 
  77. bureaucracy , where each participant has to be approved by a semi-official
  78. admissions-regulator.
